Effectively yes — the floating torii of Itsukushima Shrine is under an hour away by train or tram plus a short ferry. Check the tide tables before you go: high tide floats the gate, low tide lets you walk right up to it, and both are worth seeing.
The shinkansen makes it possible — roughly 1.5 to 2 hours each way — but it makes for a compressed day. If a day is truly all you have, start early and choose either the Peace Museum or Miyajima; doing both justice in one day is a stretch.
