Kyoto's defining sights in one full day from Osaka: the gold-leafed Kinkaku-ji shining over its mirror pond, Arashiyama's bamboo grove and river bridge, the hillside stage of Kiyomizu-dera, and the vermilion torii tunnels of Fushimi Inari-taisha. Between the temples there is time for a Japanese lunch in the Kiyomizu area and a browse through the souvenir lanes, before the coach carries you back to Osaka.
