Photo:The pirate ship crossing Lake Ashi. It is a working link between Togendai, Hakone-machi and Moto-Hakone, not just a sightseeing loop.

Sail across Lake Ashi on an ornate pirate ship — the signature way to travel between Hakone's lakeside villages. The 25–40 minute cruise links Togendai with Hakone-machi and Moto-Hakone, drifting past forested caldera slopes, the vermilion torii gate of Hakone Shrine standing in the water and, on clear days, Mount Fuji rising beyond the ridgeline. On board, open decks give way to playful interiors where 3D art and pirate figures keep children and adults equally entertained.
