Awaji Island's photogenic side, threaded into one day from Osaka: the coach crosses the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge — the world-famous suspension span — to the Flower Corridor at Awaji Hanasajiki, where a carpet of seasonal blooms rolls down the northern hills at 298 metres with the Seto Inland Sea behind every frame. The west coast follows: Ladybird Road's colourful houses and island-produce restaurants against blue water, the sky staircase of the Shiawase no Pancake terrace stepping toward the sunset, and a 30-minute all-you-can-eat turn in a seasonal fruit orchard — strawberries, grapes or Awaji's famous oranges, depending on the month.
