Ghibli Park brings the world of Studio Ghibli to life across the sprawling grounds of Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park — Moricoro Park — in Nagakute, just outside Nagoya. Five areas hide among the woods and meadows: Ghibli's Grand Warehouse and its exhibition halls, the Hill of Youth, Dondoko Forest around Satsuki and Mei's house, Mononoke Village beneath the gaze of Lord Okkoto, and the Valley of Witches, where Howl's Castle and the House of Witches stand full-size. There are no rides by design — you stroll, and the films find you.

From Nagoya, ride the subway's Higashiyama Line to its Fujigaoka terminus and change to the Linimo — Japan's magnetic-levitation line — for the short hop to Ai・Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen (Expo Memorial Park) Station, which opens straight onto Moricoro Park. The whole journey from Nagoya Station takes about an hour.
No — and that's the point. Ghibli Park is built for strolling: the five areas are woven into the existing parkland, so the experience is walking into the films' places rather than queueing for attractions. Comfortable shoes matter more here than at any other park in Japan.
