Roughly early June to mid-July. It is not constant rain — expect grey, humid days with heavy bursts rather than a washout, and hydrangeas as compensation. Indoor Tokyo barely notices it, which is why June is one of the better-value months to visit.

Once or twice a winter, and rarely for long. Tokyo winters are the sunniest and driest stretch of its year — cold mornings near 2-5°C, clear blue afternoons around 10°C — and a settling snowfall is enough of an event that the trains struggle.

Genuinely demanding. Late July and August run 33-35°C with high humidity, and the heat island keeps nights above 25°C. Plan sightseeing for mornings and evenings and let the middle of the day happen indoors — the city is built for exactly that.
