Osaka Weather Forecast

Reliably among the hottest of Japan's big cities: 34-36°C in August, humid, with concrete holding the heat long past dark. The consolation is that Osaka is built for it — the arcades and basement passages let you cross much of the centre without stepping outside.

Less than western Japan generally. The Seto Inland Sea shelters it, so outside the June tsuyu and the September typhoon window Osaka strings together a lot of dry, bright days.

Mild and dry: January highs near 9-10°C, frost uncommon, and snow rare enough to make the local news. It is a good season for walking the city, and the cheapest and quietest one to book.
