Much the same, and for the same reason — another closed basin, so 34-35°C and humid in August. Nara's advantage is that its sights are spread out under the deer-cropped shade of Nara Park, so early mornings work well here.

Colder at night than the coast. The basin holds frost on clear January mornings with daytime highs around 9°C, and Yoshino and the southern mountains are several degrees colder again and hold snow.

Early to mid-April, and it climbs the mountain — the lower groves open roughly a week before the upper ones, so a badly timed Kyoto trip can still catch Yoshino. Rain and wind are what cut it short.
