Yes. Surrounded by water on almost every side, it has one of the most even climates in Japan — January highs near 11°C, summer highs a degree or two below inland Kyushu, and frost that hardly appears. The trade-off is wind and cloud.
A great deal in June and July, when the tsuyu front stalls over western Kyushu and Nagasaki records some of the highest June totals in the country. The city's hillside steps and slopes get treacherous in a downpour.
It is one of the more exposed prefectures, lying in the path of storms tracking up the East China Sea from August into September. Ferries to Goto and Tsushima are the first thing to be suspended, usually a day ahead.
